Usually, you hear these lies during timeshare sales presentation. You seldom hear about the liability of owning a timeshare during sales presentation.

The biggest lie mentioned in the article is that you can gain profit if you resell your timeshare property. This is totally untrue. The current timeshare resale market is already flooding that the owners are more than willing to sell at usually half the price they have originally paid for that timeshare.

I do think that the relief agencies do the job. My parents went turned to a company called Timeshare Relief to get rid of their Monarch Cancun. It's been over a year now and they've not had to deal with it ever since. As for me, I never bought a timeshare and was able to enjoy my parent's timeshare since they were paying for it. They asked me if I wanted it and I turned them down. I guess Timeshare Relief was their solution.

I learned the hard way too! Cancun Palace got me for $6,000 before I cancelled. Palace Resorts will not return any calls once they find out you want to cancel the contract. Beware Mexico has a 5 day window to cancel. I was sold on many of the "Free" air fair tickets, till I found out that the whole contract must be paid in full before I can use all the "Free" trips ($30,000!). Its just better to find someone who is a member and buy a week from them, Im sure they would be happy to sell you a week that they may "never" use.

I learned the hard way that the salespeople at Waterside at Spinnaker in Hilton Head will use fradulent means (lies) to get all they can from you--everything that was told us was lies and then wrote something different in the small print of the contract. They just cheated us out of over $10,000 putting a paid unit that we had on equity for another. Don't anyone buy from them unless you want to give away money.

Bravo. I can't tell you how many times I've heard horror stories about people trying to unload even legitimate timeshare (not to mention the hordes of scams out there), and then turning to a timeshare relief agency to get, well, relief. Now with the economy in this recession it's becoming expensive just to get to a timeshare, much less pay for and own one.
