8 Best Shawnee and Pocono Mountain Restaurants

While vacationing at Shawnee timeshare, we did a little culinary investigating, and the following is a list of the top local Shawnee and Pocono Mountain area restaurants:

Sam Snead Menu and Reviews

  • Sam Snead’s Tavern – tavern right in Shawnee dedicated to golfer Sam Snead.  Very cozy place featuring great happy hour drink specials, and appetizers large enough to feed a table of four!  Excellent views of the Shawnee Inn and golf course from the patio. The picture shown on the left is a cavatappi pasta with shrimp and lobster dish from Sam Snead’s Restaurant.
  • Dansbury Depot – train-themed eatery in the heart of East Stroudsburg, only 5 minutes from Shawnee.  This is a favorite eatery for locals in the area, and The Depot is well known for its friendly, family atmosphere.  The food is reasonably priced and portions hearty, so come hungry!
  • Landmark Cafe – tiny “hole in the wall” with delicious specials.  This place is so “underground” that they do not even have a website.  Their address is 1158 Rte 209, East Stroudsburg, PA 18301 – a definite MUST EAT.
  • Alaska Pete’s – is a great destination for steaks and seafood.   Located in the neighboring community of Marshalls Creek, Alaska Pete’s has been a staple for Pocono dining over the past 5+ years.  Whatever you order, be sure to save room for dessert.
  • Saen Thai Cuisine – authentic thai food, very reasonable prices.  Yet another food destination without a website, but do not let that discourage you.  Located right in Shawnee Square (next to the post office and pizzeria) this is a place the adventurous eaters will not want to miss.
  • Petrizzos Italian – you can find the best Italian in the area here.  Located at 5789 Milford Rd East Stroudsburg, PA 18302-9115, they lack a website or frills, but you can expect a wonderful meal.
  • Willowtree Inn – upscale dining in restored historical location, but not stuffy.  Be sure to set aside some time to explore the grounds of the inn before enjoying a meal here.  Budget tip – visit for lunch, they offer a lot of the same selections, but for half the price.
  • Barley Creek – restaurant and brew pub in Tannersville, PA.  This is THE place to sit back and relax with a local microbrew in the Pocono Mountains.
